It's been not only a long time since I've posted here, but it has been a long time since I shared photos of my place. The last time you guys saw where I lived I was still living at home with my parents. It was back in 2012, so easily 4 years ago you saw my collection. Now you can see not only has my… [more]
So since I've moved into my new apartment I still hadn't set up my photography studio. Seems work has me busier than I thought I would ever be, however I took some time this past weekend to set up my studio so I could take some photos of my latest purchase, Alter's 1/8th Melty from Shining Hearts. Now… [more]
Pre-ordered this figure the moment she was released for pre-order. I needed for for multiple reasons, she's sexy/half naked, plus while she's not Sora she reminds me of Sora from Yosuga no Sora! But she's Yuki from Maid Yome and she's pretty amazing. The only issue is her adorable mouth really looks… [more]
I recently went on a trip to a magical place, The Container Store. Ok it's not really magical, but I happen to have discovered a love for organizing my home. I tend to prefer Ikea and Daiso but we went to The Container Store on a whim and I discovered this lovely storage container! I've been needing… [more]
Two things today, first i wanted to take some pictures, and two i was bored out of my mind. So i decided to play around and do a quick review of an older figure kotobukiya’s 1/8 Kamigishi Akari from the anime To Heart.
I ran out and ordered Akari after i finished watching To Heart, it was when i still had my rule of only buying figures from series and characters that i liked. It ended up making me make more purchases on random figures.
Back of her head shadowing is nicely done. I don’t regret this purchase but i will admit if i didn’t have the rule of only buying figures from characters and shows i like i might not have bothered. I just had the money and was in the mood for a new figure.
Some obvious seam lines on akari here, first you can see the line on her right arm.
I like the bow, how it just falls there is done really well.
From the front Akari happy like she’s posing for a picture, but from the side she looks sad.
V!
Rear Pantie shot!
Front Pantie shot!
i love her eyes, they are so pretty.
Really overall Kotobukiya did such an amazing job!
Only real complaint are these seam lines. I know Kotobukiya’s quality isn’t always that great but sometimes it’s too much.
The bag is really cute as well.
Seam lines strikes again!
OH NOES SEAM LINES!
Konata came in and called to Akari!
Overall i really do like this figure. But kotobukiya could have done a better job on detail. But then again this is an older figure and she wasn’t that expensive either.For her age and her price she was worth it. But if this quality of figure were released now she would be hated for the terrible quality.

Besides the already mentioned seamlines (or should we be talking about gaps?) she looks solid.Nothing to go crazy over but if youre a fan of the game/series youll appreciate her.
lol at the Konata Pic
I can see how much Kotobukiya has improved significantly over the years. Nowadays, u don’t see any seamlines at all but if there was any, they are usually minor.
Overall, it’s a good figure at her age.
Optics last blog post..Music Mondays ~ SNoW – NightmaRe
@Blowfish:
yeah she had some gaps too but yeah she’s pretty solid
@Optic:
oh you still see seamlines, but not as bad.
nice figure overall but those seamlines kind of spoil it
otaku dans last blog post..What I’m Currently Watching
A good figure for the fans, but a bit too bland for me ^^; *picky*
Oh dear, those lines are hideous! I’m so glad most figures are out of that era now @_@
@otaku dan:
seam lines, leaning, poor paint and bad face. my 4 least favorite things on a figure
@Ayuu:
yeah if i wasn’t a fan of the series i wouldn’t have bothered.
@DQ: Wow, she really looks beat up. I don’t remember mine looking that bad. For example. First thing I thought was, “Is that a bad bootleg?” Here’s my brief photoshoot couple years ago (simple login). Maybe after work, I’ll take her outta the box for a closer look. >_<
@xJAYMANx:
well do me a favor, if you do open her up what does it say on the bottom of her base? i don’t remember all of a sudden where i got mine from so i just want to double check
@DQ: No problem. If u want, I can take new close-up pics of the base, hair and seams, even the box… Ugh, can’t even look at those leg seams, lol. {Shiver}
@xJAYMANx:
well i just need the copyright info, bootlegs never have to correct copyright info on the bottom of the base
Got it. Taking a closer look at mine, your Akari looks authentic too. For confirmation, here’s the underside of the base:

MADE IN CHINA
Somehow, her red hair, bow and skirt on my Akari are cleaner with fewer blemishes. But yeah, the same exact mold-seam markings appear in the same lines of her hair, sleeves and legs. Looking back, what a difference in figure quality in just a few years.
@xJAYMANx:
okies mine says the same thing, thanks for the help. it worried me since i had bought a figure a few years back and then only realized she was a fake about a year or so later after taking a second look.
It reminds me of barbies legs…because of those lines.
You have a lot of figurines.
I only have a couple.
And most of them are Fate Stay night.
anyway.
I like the picture with konata-chan.
@The new kid:
i’ve got a few fate stay night figures. i liked the character design overall but the anime story was lakcing. i hear the game storyline is so much better but i’m far too lazy to play through it…
