It's been not only a long time since I've posted here, but it has been a long time since I shared photos of my place. The last time you guys saw where I lived I was still living at home with my parents. It was back in 2012, so easily 4 years ago you saw my collection. Now you can see not only has my… [more]
So since I've moved into my new apartment I still hadn't set up my photography studio. Seems work has me busier than I thought I would ever be, however I took some time this past weekend to set up my studio so I could take some photos of my latest purchase, Alter's 1/8th Melty from Shining Hearts. Now… [more]
Pre-ordered this figure the moment she was released for pre-order. I needed for for multiple reasons, she's sexy/half naked, plus while she's not Sora she reminds me of Sora from Yosuga no Sora! But she's Yuki from Maid Yome and she's pretty amazing. The only issue is her adorable mouth really looks… [more]
I recently went on a trip to a magical place, The Container Store. Ok it's not really magical, but I happen to have discovered a love for organizing my home. I tend to prefer Ikea and Daiso but we went to The Container Store on a whim and I discovered this lovely storage container! I've been needing… [more]
While at TNT GT3 ’09 i didn’t bring much money to buy anything. I had brought only $1350 pesos with me with is less than $100USD, for the entire trip and I had brought with me $300USD for emergency money. So i hadn’t really planned to spend much money at the con. Plus the fact that i had no space in my suitcase i didn’t think of getting anything at all. But when i found this one booth it was like the heavens opened up, the angles sang and the one box in the corner of the booth just glowed and called out to me. It was the Elusive Max Factory Naru.
Naru is one of those figures that has avoided me for some time now. Love Hina was my Gateway Manga, i had already known of anime and was into it but i didn’t get into otaku culture as much until i read Love Hina. It’s still my all time favorite manga.
She was $1450 and lucky me the exchange rate that day was exactly $14.50 pesos per $1USD, so exactly $100. Which was such a steal for such a rare beauty.
In the entire con i only found one booth that had all original figures Animeca. They had some more amazing figures that i wanted but i knew there was no way for me to bring them back with me with all the other stuff i had to take home. So i settled and only got Naru, but she was worth every penny and all the hassle to bring her back. If you live in Mexico and are looking for rare figures they are the ones to get from.
I’ve been looking for Naru for a while now and have had chances to get her but always they slip right out of my fingers. Ok more like she was always far too expensive for my taste and i couldn’t afford to get her.
She is just so beautiful and really you can see that Max Factory has been amazing at making figures for years now.
Worth the wait Naru is just so amazingly stunning.
Naru has officially the sexiest bikini of any figure, you guys know the leaf bikni is just awesome.
Only fault on her is she has a bad mark on her right leg. It’s pretty bad but then for a figure from 2005 i can overlook it.
The detail they put into the leaves is really awesome, from the color to the sculpt. It really does make her stand out among other figures.
Finding Naru was very unexpected especially in a con rampant with bootlegs. Yes i quadruple checked to make sure she was real and yes she is very real. I adore finding rare figures and figures that i’ve been looking for. I have a list of wished figures in my head, figures that are sold out and I know their average price so if i see them i know immediately whether or not it’s worth it to get them or not. Naru has been on the top of my list for some time now. To finally check her off the list makes me feel amazing, to finally have her sitting on my shelf is just awesome. Now to just keep my brother away from her since he loves Love Hina just as much as i do.

@Toonleap:
yep ebay would be a place to find her, but very expensive
@ron~:
yeah but when she wears her pants you don’t see it so i have her in her shorts
Congrats, on the awesome find. 100.00 is a great bargain for Naru.

Congratulations on your find! I love hearing stories like this, since it’s always in the most remote and unlikely areas you find your treasures. My wife is into antiques and she comes across something like what you experienced very rarely. She once picked up a dirt covered old camera for $10 that when wiped clean was a very rare camera from the 1930s, and it was in almost near mint condition (the dirt had somehow protected the camera rather than harmed it). Anyway, grats!

When you come by, you better bring it over. I have to see it up close. Otherwise…
BTW, good find. I figured there would be nothing but bootlegs in MX, but you found the diamond in the rough. Grats.
Holy crap, Max Factory Naru! She’s beautiful and I love the translucent hair. And I agree, Love Hina is probably one of my favorite manga (I have all 14 volumes and I never buy manga). Leaf bikinis FTW!

Oh, awesome!
Love Hina was my gateway manga, also. <3 Before that, I didn’t know what anime or manga was, and after that, I just started collecting and couldn’t stop. ~
Nice get!
@Ziroc:
my thoughts exactly
@jinstevens:
it’s so much fun to find things in places you’d never expect to find
@DJ Tama:
no because then you’ll try to keep her
@Sarith:
Love Hina was the first manga i owned as well, well tech. My brother bought it but it was so good i couldn’t put it down
@ShadowKit:
see i knew what anime was, but i didn’t know about manga. the thing that got me to start reading was the fact that it was backwards, and i liked the art of love hina so i started there.
Awesome!
That reminds me that i should continue working on my Resin counterpart ^^;;

I tried looking for her when I finished the Love Hina series and not knowing, she was that rare already. Then time went by and I sorta gave up and moved on. T_T
Nice find. I know the feeling when u get to cross a figure of ur wishlist. ^^

Whoa, what are the chances to find a legit figure in a place like that, eh? I passed up the chance to get Naru because I wanted her with solid hair color. I’ve seen pictures of her with solid hair, but I know the sculptor was going for the see-through sun drenched hair style. I remember her being about $60 when I first saw it. So she went up in price.
Nice find. Max Factory’s Naru is awesome. Most likely the best Naru figure ever. I just love her posture. You were lucky to find her.
@Blowfish:
oh yeah i have a resin figure that has been sitting in her box in peices that i need to finish
@Opic:
it’s awesome finding figures that have been on your wishlist
@Figure Maniac:
yep since she’s so rare you can’t find her for under $100 now
@Matteas:
yep she is for sure the best naru ever made
I adore Naru — Love Hina is my favorite series of all time as well. This one is gorgeous and so are your photos!

If I knew about the damage to the figure, I’d try to haggle the price down.
She’s cute but she stole Shana’s hair :'(
Sad 🙁
Nice buy ^^
@Colette:
well thank you! Love hina is an all time favorite for me as well
@Rin:
lucky me my aunt’s backyard had a jungle motif so i decided to do the shoot there to take advantage of that
@Figure Maniac:
yeah same here
@James:
technically shana stole naru’s hair since naru is older ^_~
Are there any other figures you’re searching for? What would be the #1 figure you’re searching for now that you found Naru?
lovelyduckies last blog post..First Haul of February
@Lovelyduckie:
now it’s Kotobukiya’s Takaya Noriko from Gunbuster, she’s pretty hard to find and from ’04 but she’s an amazing figure and i’d love to get my grubby little hands on her
After reading this I decided to take a look at how much she was going for on EBay. And lucky me, someone was selling their’s for 100.00. She came in today and is in excellent condition except for some dust on the base from being displayed. She also has the same mark on her right leg. It’s right on the seam of her leg, so must be from the manufacturing process.

congrats on getting her! She’s totally awesome and be sure to treasure her!
[…] like the mark on the right leg is from the mold, I took a look around and saw that the Naru at How a Girl Figures has the same mark too. But if you have the jeans on you won’t see it – you can see […]
