Our apartment – 2016 NSFW

It's been not only a long time since I've posted here, but it has been a long time since I shared photos of my place. The last time you guys saw where I lived I was still living at home with my parents. It was back in 2012, so easily 4 years ago you saw my collection. Now you can see not only has my… [more]

[Alter] – Melty Review

So since I've moved into my new apartment I still hadn't set up my photography studio. Seems work has me busier than I thought I would ever be, however I took some time this past weekend to set up my studio so I could take some photos of my latest purchase, Alter's 1/8th Melty from Shining Hearts. Now… [more]

[Orchid Seed] – Yuki Review NSFW

Pre-ordered this figure the moment she was released for pre-order. I needed for for multiple reasons, she's sexy/half naked, plus while she's not Sora she reminds me of Sora from Yosuga no Sora! But she's Yuki from Maid Yome and she's pretty amazing. The only issue is her adorable mouth really looks… [more]

Nendoroid Storage Container

I recently went on a trip to a magical place, The Container Store. Ok it's not really magical, but I happen to have discovered a love for organizing my home. I tend to prefer Ikea and Daiso but we went to The Container Store on a whim and I discovered this lovely storage container! I've been needing… [more]

Loaned Figures; Ezio

This time is a first for me, a Non-Anime figure! This is from my brother’s personal collection from the Special Edition of Assassin’s Creed II.

I do feel there are dramatic differences between Japanese made figures and American made figures.

His outfit is intricately designed and looks very nice on this figure.

The biggest difference I notice between the typical anime figures I own and Ezio here is the detail on his face. They really didn’t go all out making his face look good, and it seems they played too much into that his face will be covered and didn’t care to detail his eyes.

While his clothing is detailed enough there are parts where it seems they stretched themselves thin and wants to go for amazing detail but just didn’t know how to make it look realistic enough.

My biggest complaint other than his face would be the shading for his clothes. His arms have yellow painted within the folds to make the shading pop out more but the drastic difference between the two colors is just too harsh for just shading lines.

While this figure is meant to have his face covered I wish they would have at least made his eyes look better.

He looks cross-eyed, high and sleepy. Not a good combo for when you need to be scaling buildings and killing people.

I do like his base and the detail they gave him on his boots.

I do like the texturizing they did for his leather coat dealy, it really looks like leather.

Overall for a figure that to my understanding only cost you $20 more when you got the special edition of the game, he’s not bad at all. But considering that Good Smile Company or any other figure company in Japan will release a figure with a game and the figure tends to be so amazing they you’ll buy the game just to get the figure. Not buy the game and happen to get an extra figure. Personally? I wouldn’t have purchased Ezio by  himself, yet since he wasn’t much more with the game, why pass it up?

Looks pretty cool for such a figure, I mean one from a game bundle.
There are so much crappy figures (can’t even call those figures) coming with games… like the one for AION collector edition.
    Well, maybe for “us” who are used to top quality models from brands such as Alter, GSC etc. these goodies are not worth it hehe ^^;;

We as figure collectors have been spoiled by the amazing figures released in japan, and then we get mainstream figures for popular video games that don’t make the cut, it’s pretty sad.

    Great photos!

lots of cool little detailing on there gives the outfit of the figure a really authentic feel to it.

WOAH he looks badass. I love that first pic you took of him, I think it looks ~artistic~! And yeah, his cape has to be my favorite, it really does look like leather!

    • Dancing Queen says:

aww thanks! I love the cape since it seems that they took their time to make it look what it was supposed to look like!

I really loved the costume design for Ezio and the figurine is really great in pointing it out, they are pretty detailed o.O!!
I agree with you on the eye part, its … ahem… quite bothering me hahaha…
    regardless great pictures!!

  5. Flip says:

Bah I think it looks meh but than again I’m not a fan of Assassin’s Creed at all. Maybe just a tad biased.

    • Dancing Queen says:

I haven’t played the game myself, but lots of my friend’s are huge fans and they all keep telling me how awesome it is.

Love this figure! I think Ezio looks so cool, and it’s nice to see a variety of figures on here. BTW, this is first figure I’ve seen in a while that I wasn’t looking for the obligatory ‘pantsu shot’. Ha! Keep the coolness coming. ^_^

    • Dancing Queen says:

well i’m glad you liked it! I notice i sometimes forget about the panty shots when i do female figure reviews. But I do want to get my hands on different figures now and have some more variety for this site!

A lot of what you covered here are reasons I don’t buy any American made figures, ever. Some of the comic book figures can be really nice (I’ve seen an AMAZING Captain America, and a really good Batman ), but 99% of them just don’t make the cut. After I started getting a few Japanese figures here and there, I noticed that even Kotobukiya’s older figures are made better than most expensive American figures (and these are the ones that people complain about the shiny skin ).

I’ve definitely been spoiled with GSC figures as of late, and then looking at poorly made figures like this one you’ve reviewed really makes me sad. They definitely should’ve done a lot more with his face, and they could’ve done a lot more with the paints on his outfit too. But, I suppose, like you said, a lot of us anime figure collectors have really been spoiled with the amazing detail put into great Japanese figure companies. Especially seeing the wicked Miku and Rin that are coming out later this year under the GSC brand, I don’t even see how anything else could stand a chance…

    • Dancing Queen says:

You know it actually makes me more interested in American made figures to see the mass differences in detail that the Japanese put into figures compared to the detail American’s figures put into their figures. I also want those Miku and Rin figures badly, but still with this lack of employment i might have to pass on them 🙁

      • ShadowKit says:

Yowch, I hope you’re able to pick them up eventually. =(

This is the first year I can actually trust my money to a decent point with pre-orders through more than just the holiday season, so I’ve been getting all the big ones for the first time this year. I’d hate to lose my job and not be able to do this after being able to, it’s such a nice thing =q= Much, much luck with finding something that’ll earn you monies. <3

        • Dancing Queen says:

things are looking up so maybe i’ll get in a pre-order last minute, but first i have to track down the figures i’ve missed so far >_<

  8. Steve says:

I agree with you on the face, though thankfully it’s not really visible from most normal viewing angles. The lower part of the face isn’t that bad, and that’s all you really see. If it were available for separate sale rather, I might be much less forgiving.

There was a more limited version of this figure – not available in the US – that featured a much more pleasing colour scheme (in my opinion) and some extra detail. Overall I think it’s a much better figure, and although the standard white version is quite good for a bonus with a game, it’s a shame that the US didn’t get the choice between the two like most countries did.

You can check it out here, if you’d like to compare.

  9. Steve says:

More like his eyes are rolling into the back of his head – so not much better – but thankfully you have to look at him from a pretty low angle to even see his eyes properly.

  10. Nopy says:

He looks cool, except for the eyes which make him look like he’s high on something.

    • Dancing Queen says:

I think he’s awesome except for those dang eyes! That bugs me the most since its the first thing i look at with figures

  11. lovelyduckie says:

You’re right about the eyes, he looks like a stoner assassin. But the outfit is WONDERFUL!

    • Dancing Queen says:

The outfit is really awesome and spot on, but for figure collectors like us it’s not good to skip over the details like the characters face.
