Our apartment – 2016 NSFW

It's been not only a long time since I've posted here, but it has been a long time since I shared photos of my place. The last time you guys saw where I lived I was still living at home with my parents. It was back in 2012, so easily 4 years ago you saw my collection. Now you can see not only has my… [more]

[Alter] – Melty Review

So since I've moved into my new apartment I still hadn't set up my photography studio. Seems work has me busier than I thought I would ever be, however I took some time this past weekend to set up my studio so I could take some photos of my latest purchase, Alter's 1/8th Melty from Shining Hearts. Now… [more]

[Orchid Seed] – Yuki Review NSFW

Pre-ordered this figure the moment she was released for pre-order. I needed for for multiple reasons, she's sexy/half naked, plus while she's not Sora she reminds me of Sora from Yosuga no Sora! But she's Yuki from Maid Yome and she's pretty amazing. The only issue is her adorable mouth really looks… [more]

Nendoroid Storage Container

I recently went on a trip to a magical place, The Container Store. Ok it's not really magical, but I happen to have discovered a love for organizing my home. I tend to prefer Ikea and Daiso but we went to The Container Store on a whim and I discovered this lovely storage container! I've been needing… [more]

Griffon 1/7 Izayoi Sakuya Review

Have you missed me? Oh I’ve been ever so neglectful of you all and I feel terrible because of it! My last post was over a month ago! I guess some things have just been getting in the way lately of me having time to really sit down and put up new content and reviews for you all! Hopefully however I’ll be getting back into the groove of writing up reviews for you all!

Here we have Izayoi Sakuya from Touhou Project. She’s the combat version so not from the 1/8 version of the figure set that has been released but a new cooler version of these figures in a combat style pose.

Love the vibrant red eyes, how it contrasts so well with her hair color and her overall color scheme.

For being the “combat” version I’m surprised she isn’t in a cooler style combat pose. She seems maybe ready to fight but not really in the fight yet, I’d love to see a cooler pose, as in maybe in the middle of an attack, maybe already attacked. Like perhaps having some clothes torn off, a more aggressive face and just overall more “Action-y.”

I do however adore the base and clock detail, would have been even better if it were a working clock!

The blade detail looks so amazing, also love the fluttering of her sash that comes from her bow.

Closer look at the detail of her blades, they look just so cool, and ever so deadly!

Such a serious face but then partly blank if you asked me, she seems just ambivalent to the idea of fighting, instead of looking angry and having a reason to need to fight.

Sakuya is a loaner figure from my brother, so while I wouldn’t have gone through the trouble of purchasing her I do adore her. She is a figure that after seeing her I’d love to have my own. She is so stunning and is really a piece that just attracts the eye. Sitting on the shelf in my brother’s apartment my eye is just drawn to her and I just end up looking to this figure first. Truly a figure that should be in any Touhou fan’s collection, she’s amazing and I don’t have many complaints!

Also I’m now the official Figure correspondent on AX Live! Check us out every Wed. @7pm PST! a few weeks ago we were doing some figure giveaways, so stay tuned for more giveaways on AX Live! You’ll have to catch the show and participate and call in through Skype but it’ll be well worth it!

Nice review, I really love this figure. I’ve stopped myself with collecting the 1/8ths, the figmas, some of the plush, and some of the nendoroids though. The 1/7ths are taking it a tad too far considering all the other pre-orders and orders I already have waiting for me, haha.

Sakuya’s generally pretty expressionless for the most part in the games, so I can definitely see why they painted/sculpted her face the way they did. I think the expression really suits her.

ahh well that explains her face then, still as someone who doesn’t know much of the franchise i would have preferred something more aggressive, there are some amazing flandre and her sister who i can’t remember her name combat figures that are so amazingly stunning that i half expected her to be able to compare

      • IshokuOsero says:

Flandre SHOULD look aggressive. She’s absolutely, utterly insane. She’s the younger sister to Remilia, and she was locked away decades ago because of her insanity. In ESoD, she’s the extra boss once you defeat her sister. Remilia’s really not all that much better on the scale of crazy, though…

I suppose if you don’t know the franchise, that you wouldn’t get the face. But those that do probably would’ve been utterly disappointed had she had some sort of combat expression on. I know I would’ve been.

Very nice figure! I didn’t know this version of her existed. It’s much nicer than the one I have.

    • Dancing Queen says:

yep, that’s the 1/8 version of her, but this is a slightly larger version of her. Now sure if my brother will be picking up that version but knowing him he will

  3. JamDeltaV says:

Nice to see you posting things again and great review as usual! I also really like the base and agree with you about the pose.

I hope they make a Suika because she’s my fav. Touhou character.

Good luck with getting everything settled and looking forward to more updates and cool reviews.

    • Dancing Queen says:

thanks, i’m trying to get back into the swing of things and i’ve got plenty of figures to review and plenty of material, it’s just finding the time lately to sit down and write out the actual review for my site

Griffon Enterprise’s Touhou lineup is really impressive. I love the detail they put into Sakuya’s clock and the knives that she’s holding.

  5. lu-k says:

    Looks nice. I like Sakuya’s style and lack of expression, as if she was a cold assassin. Well, no wonder for a former vampire hunter and a demon’s guard ^^;;
I think she’s one of my favorite Touhou girl. Dangerous maid, haha love this type of character ^^

4th pic looks particularly great to me. Full view, and really gives the impression she’s standing on an old tower’s clock ^^

“Sakuya is a loaner figure from my brother”

I was about to ask how you were able to afford her 😉 this was a figure I wanted until I found out she was limited. I can’t justify paying the extra for limited items unless I know the characters better. I’m more of the type that just admires all the Touhou characters from afar.

Great pictures. I really like this figure, she has a lot of nice colour tones on her. Although I have no idea about her character, maybe the blank expression is because she is a fearless killing machine with no emotion? That’s just a stab in the dark though (no pun intended)
