It's been not only a long time since I've posted here, but it has been a long time since I shared photos of my place. The last time you guys saw where I lived I was still living at home with my parents. It was back in 2012, so easily 4 years ago you saw my collection. Now you can see not only has my… [more]

[Alter] – Melty Review

So since I've moved into my new apartment I still hadn't set up my photography studio. Seems work has me busier than I thought I would ever be, however I took some time this past weekend to set up my studio so I could take some photos of my latest purchase, Alter's 1/8th Melty from Shining Hearts. Now… [more]

Pre-ordered this figure the moment she was released for pre-order. I needed for for multiple reasons, she's sexy/half naked, plus while she's not Sora she reminds me of Sora from Yosuga no Sora! But she's Yuki from Maid Yome and she's pretty amazing. The only issue is her adorable mouth really looks… [more]

Nendoroid Storage Container

I recently went on a trip to a magical place, The Container Store. Ok it's not really magical, but I happen to have discovered a love for organizing my home. I tend to prefer Ikea and Daiso but we went to The Container Store on a whim and I discovered this lovely storage container! I've been needing… [more]

Driving to Colima, Mexico

Went to Mexico recently, to visit my Mother’s Nanny. My mom was raised by her when she was young but family troubles they parted and my mom hadn’t heard from her in over 30 years. In our last trip to Mexico we found her old house and her brother who still lived in the house. He didn’t know who we were at first but later warmed up and informed us that my Mother’s Nanny was alive and well and lived in Colima. With this we decided to an impromptu trip to Mexico to visit her and see how she was doing after all these years! Brought Along Yoko, KagaMiku and Louise for a few pictures but this post is mostly the amazing Mexico countryside that we saw during our trip!

Still in California, we drove through Arizona to get to the Nogales border since it’s a straight shot from there to my aunt’s place in Los Mochis Sinaloa. We got to Tuscon late at night and got a hotel to leave to Nogales in the night and early.

Packed up and in the car bright and early! Kagamiku like me was a bit sleepy so early in the morning.

Once in Mexico we had to stop by El Centro De Importacion E Internacion Temporal de Vehiculos. Here we get our Visas to visit Mexico, and the permit to bring our car into Mexico.

Some amazing cloud formations that morning. I sleep the majority of the trip from Tuscon to Los Mochis. I fall asleep very easily while in a moving car and we also had been up far too early for my body to function properly.

Once in Los Mochis i had my aunt take us to go get a quick snack! Coco’s Helados! Chilled Coconuts!

The take a Coconut, chill it then cut the top off and stick a straw as you can see for you to drink the Coconut Milk. I’m not a big fan of the milk, i think it taste like soap! But my grandma loves it so she drinks the Milk.

Then they cut it in half and chop up the coconut inside and put Lemon juice and Chili powder. I apparently wasn’t eating it correctly here…

Here is a special way they’ll prepare it, add in some crunchy peanuts and Tamarindo Bits. Looks a bit like dog food but it’s very good!

Here is the regualr way of just Lemon juice and Chili Powder. This way is my favorite!

A sign showing off how my Aunt’s 3rd grade class of her school got #1 within the entire state! The three ladies on the top are middle my Aunt and on her right is my Cousin Rocio and on the other side of my Aunt, Vicky another teacher in the school. My Aunt and cousin own this school and the third grade class is taught by my aunt, so we were all quite proud of her achievement!

yummy mexican pastries, we stocked up on these for our trip down to Colima!

Busy Street in Los Mochis

My Brother’s favorite place to eat while in Mexico. This is only to brag to him that we ate there!

Louise enjoying some salsas and Guacamole.

Kagamiku hoping not to be confused with the little Bean Tacos.

Yoko wanted some of my Tacos, but she isn’t a fan of the guacamole, so she didn’t get any.

Yummy Grilled Onions!

Bright and early sunrise the next morning.

Everything was just so green!

My cousin’s baby Valeria playing with my lens cap while we stopped to get some gas.

Rows and rows of trees, not sure exactly what kind of trees.

Cows out in the pasture

Catching some shut eye while we stopped for snacks.

Everything was just so green and beautiful.

It went suddenly from mountains and fields into Jungle while we drove, would have loved to stay and take pictures and play in the jungle but we were on the clock, most of these were taken from inside the car :'(

Just so stunningly green

The ONLY picture I got of Puerto Vallarata. I spent the rest of the time drooling and wanted to stop and stay here for the rest of the trip. Amazing beautiful beaches, beautiful luxurious hotels, I want to go back so badly!

The view from our hotel the next morning in Barra de Navidad. It was pouring rain, yet about 95 degrees. My first time experiencing Rain when it’s not cold. It was fun running out into the rain and playing in puddles like a little kid!

The beaches were also pretty snazzy near our hotel!

Valeria posing for the camera!

Finally we went to the beach once we got to Colima, Valeria looking out at the ocean.

The Beach was just full of people, and it was a sea of tents and umbrellas along the coast as well.

Want some souvenirs from Colima?

Tons of Palm trees

Near the Harbor where the boats go to bring in crap into Mexico.

Someone Enjoying their Ice Cream a bit too much maybe?

Later back at the house in Colima visiting my mom’s Nanny, they set up the pool for the girls. You can see Valeria and Carla, Carla is a little girl that my Mom’s old nanny watches from time to time. My dad is playing with them with the hose.

Just look at the adorable face!

I later went to cool off and stick my foot in the pool, then i got sucked into playing with the girls in a splash fight!

I was winning at first.

But two against one, it was no fight and I lost out in the end!

Charging us for toilet paper in the one public restroom we went to. So if you’ve got the runs it’ll be expensive for you sadly.

Only “Normal ” breakfast i got while in Mexico, a Poached egg and Cornflakes with some cold Orange Juice. Normally it’s warm OJ and tacos or weird pancakes. I also say normal since it’s not really normal but something my mom made for us often when we younger.

Heading back from Colima.

Love the clouds and the bright blue skies that accompanied us this trip.

Mexico really is beautiful, I have to admit I was used to seeing Desert looking Mexico that we see in movies often. But i was taken aback by how truly stunning Mexico is. This also was the longest car ride i’ve ever done at over 3,000 miles in the car. It also did take a toll on my mom’s poor van as the speed bumps in the highway did a number on the Van’s Shocks. While i am also raving about Mexico it does have it’s downside. I always, ALWAYS come back sick. I also always somehow get the worst insect bites. This last time i got bit by some spider and it swelled up pretty badly, my jaw started to lock up and so we went to the doctor where i got a shot in the tush and some creams. It went away after that but it tends to be a hassle. But these things seem so small in comparison of how much fun I have on these trips! Are there any places you’ve been to that you just love but don’t get to go to often?

You can now follow me on

Awesome pics! I’m glad you give Mexico such good reviews and talk awesomely about it, since these days all TV and people tend to say is that you will get robbed and etc if you go. I’m from TJ and was born and raised there for 18 years! now I live in San Diego 😛 , but still go back once in a while for family stuff or at for delicious food :] .

    • Dancing Queen says:

well i know plenty of people who have never been to mexico yet talk badly about it all the time. I say unless you’ve gone you don’t know what you’re talking about

Hey, I *live* in Mexico, and here’s what I have to say on the subject:

It’s not the safest of places.

In my city, 10 people are killed in violent crimes every day, in broad daylight. At least twice a week, the police finds dismembered people stuffed in cars abandoned in the middle of roads. Many business are being extortioned by the mafia, and are closing shop and leaving town. Night life has decreased considerably, the streets are mostly empty after 10 PM, when before they used to be bustling up to 2 AM.

And yet, in spite of all those negative things that happen, I live here. In fear? Maybe a bit. But the day we let fear control us is the day we lost.

      But I digress.

Most places in Mexico are NOTHING like my city. Quite the opposite, as a matter of fact. Mexico, as a whole, is full of honest, fun-loving people trying to make ends meet in a country of unequal opportunity. There are beautiful beaches, buildings, shows and people. Despite all the bad news you might hear, let me assure you, those are mostly local incidents in certain parts of the country. Overall, it’s as safe as any place in the world can be. Not 100% safe, but safe enough to go on vacation to one of those offbeat places that most foreign tourists ignore and have lots of fun.

      • Dancing Queen says:

But then every country has their terrible cities filled with crime. But you shouldn’t judge them on those cities. As you said most place in mexico are beautiful filled with people who are hard working and fun. I will say i did notice a change in the night life compared to when i was younger

        • Flip says:

The drug trafficking is insane, also the amount of homeless people is pretty high. But not every city is like that.Yeah and the way people are quick to judge in the U.S. about Mexico is kinda sad. Oh well, My grandma/family is from San Luis Potosi and its a pretty nice place actually. I live in Houston and I think it has more crime, haha.

        • Dancing Queen says:

i just like to tell people that unless they’ve gone to mexico they can’t talk trash on it

I loved my trip down to Florida back in 2004 and I would love to go back there soon, but I can’t at the moment. I may be going down to Italy when I graduate from college, though.

Looking at your pictures is inspiring me more to travel the world, which is my biggest goal in life along with leading a happy and comfortable lifestyle.

    • Dancing Queen says:

Oh Italy and Florida sound awesome. I as well would love to travel the world! So many places to see, so little time!

I found this post thanks to a friend of mine (Jeremy) and found your trip beautiful and evocative. The crunchy peanuts on the coconut are called “cacahuates japoneses” or Japanese Peanuts. They weren’t created in Japan, but a guy in Mexico decided to put soy sauce on the crunchy paste over these and they became a hit. This is one of my favorite snacks in the world and miss them terribly, as US versions are just awful.

I’m glad you decided to take this trip, as Colima is a beautiful place. Thank you very much for sharing this.

It is September 2011 and I was looking for information on really old art (pottery) from Colima (about 1500 years BC!) and I found your pictures. I think you are charming and I love your photography. I wish more people would know more about this site so they would see Mexico from a human point of view. I know how you feel. Thank you.
